A very old photo from my European travels in the late 1970s……..
I haven’t been out taking photos all week and I’m starting to get withdrawal symptoms, so I thought I’d have a try at scanning an old photo from January 1978.
Not sure if it was taken with 35mm film or my little old $10 instamatic camera bought in 1975, but I did crop a small amount of the sky off yesterday as the image had way too much sky in the composition.
Taken after catching a cable car up through the low cloud cover over the valley in Alpendorf in Austria.
While it doesn’t have the resolution and detail of my current DSLR – LOL – I quite like the composition even today.
In fact, it has so little detail, it almost looks like an oil crayon drawing!

I love the color shift of old photos – it is a nice composition.
Thank you for the comment, Lorri.
Can you imagine how wonderful it would have been to have a DSLR back in those days. I wish I could re-do all those months in Europe and the UK with a decent camera and my (now) more selective eye. I would probably have taken 1000 photos every day and all of them would have been ‘keepers’ perhaps.
Makes me long for a good travel trip and snow!
Me too, Lisa.
(although I would have thought you’d had enough snow after leaving 10 years of living in it behind you).
Same, but I find myself missing it this year. I have a few photos of snowy places up and I can practically hear the crunch of it under my boots. I always enjoyed the snow, just didn’t like living outdoors in it.
