Beautiful detail Victoria ~ I love dragonflies! You did great with your 18-200 mm telephoto! That is the lens that came on my new Canon . I have an extra zoom one was recommended to get another — would really like a wide angle lens. Hope those arms are doing ok — so hard to imagine sunburn when its freezing here ~ I have a rose up today- with poem — wanted to do a slide show with a collection but it’s not working out well with wordpress — I’ll keep trying Much love ~ xo Robyn
Thankyou Robyn.
I know you’re going to love the 18-200mm lens that came with your DSLR – it’s just so versatile.
I can no longer see any way to do a slide show in WordPress – I’m totally mystified – where did that function go to. Haven’t seen it since I bought my new laptop last year.
If you find out where to do a slide show on WordPress, can you please let me know.
Put a mixture of vitamin E cream & Lavender oil on my arms and they don’t hurt at all this morning. Lavender oil performs miracles on burns if you can get it on quick enough after the actual burn. I put pure Lavender oil after a burnt my hand badly with boiling water and between the ice pack & essential oil, it healed completely except for a tiny 1/4″ white mark where the centre of the burn blister was.
Thanks Lorri – you can have my sunshine any day, but please send me some snow in return.
The best dragonfly images I’ve ever taken was 2 years ago I think. Don’t remember seeing many dragonflies last summer at all. These shots are cropped down from larger photos, but the focus is still pretty good all the same.
Thankyou Scott. I knelt near the edge of the lake for ages waiting for this same blue dragonfly to land (time after time) so I could keep taking photos – I’m sure the couple sitting on the park bench behind me must have wondered what on earth I was photographing.
Seems that it was well worth the effort, Victoria…wonderful image…and it seems, too, to me anyway, that when we have our cameras with us like this, it gives us license to be a little odd or preoccupied with things that others aren’t….
Excellent, Vicki! I know how much you’ve tried for good dragonfly photos!
It must have taken me an hour or more to get these dragonfly photos, Lisa. It was at the end of my walk and I sat down for a rest before walking out the exit gate to go home, so was tired and had plenty of patience to sit/kneel waiting for the dragonfly to keep landing on nearly the same spot (after each fly around the area).
Dragonflies do sit still for quite a long rest, if you’ve got the patience to sit & wait.

I love these and I’m coveting your sunshine:) Love the details – I have used my birding lens to shoot dragonflies – it works pretty well.
