Australian King Parrot (Alisterus scapularis) – up on the Farm in country Victoria
These Australian King Parrot images were the only bird photos I managed to take on Christmas Day (apart from the multi-coloured chickens) – too busy talking, eating and walking around the fields to photograph the lovely other birds that came to feast in the feeding boxes.
What was even harder, was to get a shot between the thick foliage of the tree with the light in the right position.

These are spectacular – the birds and the photos!
Thankyou Julie,
The King Parrots and Rosellas were the only birds I saw on Xmas Day. I did see a particular Willy Wagtail talking to the mare, Penny, but couldn’t get close enough to take a photo.
Of course one can hear the Kookaburras, magpies and other birds calling to each other across the valley. Actually, I can hear many of these birds outside my bedroom window in the inner city – something to do with living almost next to the Botanic Gardens and River I think.
